Does your kid like to move? Chances are the answer is “YES – they never stop!” If that’d the case then you have to try the DANCEFIX Kids & Teens 4-Week Summer Workshop. It is non-stop dancing fun that delivers a lot of sweat, smiles, and just a touch of sass over four 60-minute high-energy sessions, enabling connections with other kids while building confidence and stamina.
For those not familiar with DANCEFIX®, it is a workout class featuring original, diverse choreography. Their mission is to create health, happiness, and connection to self and community through dance. Founded by Heather Britt, a professional dancer and choreographer, DANCEFIX® offers adult and kid classes in addition to special workshops. Her energy and passion shine through every interaction, encouraging the participants to have fun and push themselves. With the Kid & Teen Workshop, she is extending that passion to a younger generation.
Both of my daughters (ages 7 and 10) are athletes and love to dance – usually to their own drummer, but the DANCEFIX Kid & Teen Workshop hits all the right notes. The kids get to dance to the latest popular songs, learn ballet leaps and jumps, increase their core strength, and wrap it all up with a reminder on the importance of stretching. While the kids may think they are just having some fun dancing, what they are truly developing is self-awareness as they move amongst the other kids, self-confidence as they introduce themselves with their own unique moves, and camaraderie as they encourage one another after a particularly exuberant dance number. My youngest says “Whew – that makes you sweat…and I cannot wait to do it again!”
So even if your kid is not the best or even the most interested dancer (my kids are NOT dancers – they swim and do martial arts), this dance workshop is more than just shaking your groove. It is about finding your groove and having a blast while you do it!
DANCEFIX® is offering another Kids 4-Week Summer Workshop in August (Saturdays from 10:45-11:45 AM) at the Blue Ash location on Kenwood Road. It is $48 total for all four sessions and you can go to www.dancefixcincinnati.com and get signed up! Adult classes are offered daily at the Blue Ash and Cincinnati Ballet locations, including a Choreography Workshop (August/September) that breaks down the 10 regular dances to enable a quick start-up for beginners or a refresher for seasoned dancers.
