“Saying Goodbye to Vietnam” Photography Exhibit

This exhibit is an engrossing journey through recent history based on Ken’s personal experiences in that war-torn land. As a US Army photographer, Ken’s eye for poetic beauty infuses the powerful and sometimes haunting images he created there.

Book Signing both days. Photography in a War Zone presentation on Sunday, May 27 at 1:00 PM

Ken Williamson first went to Vietnam in 1969, serving with the Army Engineers. He photographed the land, people, and events then and continued documenting its citizens and sites when he returned years after the war. This exhibit and accompanying book intertwines his personal life and reactions with the historical events of the time that have shaped Vietnam and the United States.

Photography in a War Zone – Evendale Recreation Center

Photography in a war zone plays a critical role in informing the public about the costs of conflict both on humanity and the landscape. Go behind the lens in a war zone with Ken Williamson during this special presentation.

Ken Williamson is a native of Cincinnati, a graduate of Norwood High School and Ohio University, where he studied photography.  He was a U.S. Army Photographer and Journalist in Vietnam in 1969 and owned his own film and video production company for 28 years in Cincinnati, Ohio.

His service in Vietnam, as a photographer, included the 815th Engineers in Pleiku and the 26th Public Information Detachment, USAECAV. While with the 26th, Ken traveled throughout South Vietnam documenting engineer operations.  His photography appeared in engineer publications, The Castle Courier, Kysu magazine and Stars and Stripes. Ken has returned to Vietnam twice (1998 and 2005) to gather information for Saying Goodbye to Vietnam.  During those trips he shot photos from many of the same locations as in 1969.
