This is a behind the scenes peak at the “Japanese Mania” that swept through Cincinnati in the late 19th century and started one of the oldest collections of Japanese art in America.
Please join us for this special program to learn more about the “Japanese Mania” of the 19th and 20th century Cincinnati collectors who contributed so much to the Art Museum’s Japanese collection and the historical significance of the collection’s 3,000 artworks. Dr. Hou-mei Sung, Curator of Asian Art and Cecile Mear, Paper Conservator, will share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about the donors and conservation efforts that make the Masterpieces of Japanese Art such a spectacular exhibit.
