An alternative/performative/experimental/live art fair takes over a parking lot
An alternative art fair returns for a second year on May 20th, 2018 in a parking lot in Camp Washington.
9×18: The Parking Lot Art Experiment – an alternative/performative/experimental/live art fair takes over the parking lot of 2927 Colerain Avenue on May 20th, 2018 from 1-5pm. “9×18” describes the dimensions of a standard parking space, and that space constraint is the only rule to abide by for this fair. Tents, wire hangers, and plastic sleeves for goods sold will be absent from this fair. Instead, viewers will be inundated with performance, art actions, experimental engagements, and ephemeral works.
9×18 came about when a group of local creatives asked a simple question, “Where can artists who don’t create “things” and sell commodified objects showcase their work to a large and accessible public?” 9×18 aims to answer this question and change the way we look at art fairs. 9×18 is less about purchasing work (though there will be some opportunity for that), and more about creating an immersive experience.
This project is curated by Andy Marko, Karay Martin, and Cal Cullen. 9×18 is a Wave Pool project and has been approved by semantics gallery. This project is funded by a grant from The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.
