An Afternoon of Piano Music
An afternoon of classical piano music coming from France in the early 1900s with corresponding art and images projected during the concert.
Join Flight88 on Sunday, October 22 at 3 PM for a concert featuring diverse piano music from the 20th Century in France. Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies and gripping rhythms that came not only from French composers Debussy, Chaminade, and Ravel, but also from Stravinsky, whose Petrushka was premiered in Paris in 1911. This fantasy-filled piece about a fatal love triangle among puppets was arranged for solo piano by the composer himself. Also featured on the concert are Debussy\\\’s Images and Ravel\\\’s terrifying and fantastically difficult Gaspard de la nuit. Art and images related to the music will be projected during the concert.
Featured on the concert are internationally recognized, award-winning pianists Nicholas Susi, Ji-Hyang Gwak, Yuan Zhuang, and Nuoya Zhang. Traveling from different states for just this concert, these pianists are not to be missed! Collectively, they have been honored by the American Liszt Society, received first prize at the prestigious Seattle International Piano Competition, released numerous CDs to critical acclaim, and appeared as concerto soloists with professional orchestras all around the globe. Detailed biographies of each performer are available at www.facebook.com/flight88music.
Located above the taproom at Urban Artifact, this concert will take place in the former St. Patrick\\\’s sanctuary, a 19th century gothic style Catholic church which has since been converted into a contemporary event space with unique lighting, table seating, and a newly restored grand piano.
Full bar service available before and during the concert, as well as access to the Urban Artifact taproom downstairs at any time. All audience members will be treated to complimentary French desserts. There will also be a generous raffle basket with the winner announced at intermission.
