One of the composer’s finest achievements, Songfest, blends late-romanticism with fiery Latin rhythms, blues, folksong and jazz. Fancy Free features a vibrant, jazz-tinged score and was a huge success when it premiered to sold-out crowds at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1944.
