Based on the Victorian novel by William Makepeace Thackeray and set in eighteenth century Ireland, “Barry Lyndon” tells the story of a sensitive and ambitious farm boy, Redmond Barry.
In love with his cousin Nora Brady, he challenges the British Captain John Quin to try and win her over and, after having won and lost his money to thieves, is left with no other option that to join the British Army to fight in the Seven Years Way. Barry Lyndon, one of Stanley Kubrick’s most acclaimed movies, was nominated for seven Oscars and awarded four.
