Diane Johannigman: Reflections

Artist Diane Johannigman brings her original mixed media art to the Westheimer Gallery

The Sharonville Cultural Arts Center is pleased to welcome Diane Johannigman to our Westheimer Gallery with her solo exhibition, Reflections.
A Cincinnati native, Diane Johannigman brings a nearly 60-year lifetime of fine art skills to the forefront of local and regional art enthusiasts. Diane started art at five years old when she was taught, inspired, and encouraged by her mother. Drawn to visual arts, Diane explored and excelled at drawing. She studied Fine Arts, Environmental Design, and Fiber Arts at the University of Houston from 1977-1982 while also pursuing a collegiate and high-level national swimming career. However, the demanding swim schedule, post-college Olympic goals and events, and coaching, led Diane to pause her art endeavors.

In 2014, after a 30-year hiatus, Diane returned to her happy place, and her passion for art with her talents still tuned. Her resurgence, recent formal art training with Sandy Maudlin, Bob Hebenstreit, Jean Pederson, and Karen Knutson, and ample time to draw and paint during the pandemic generated an impressive library of mixed-media pieces and commissions. Her first art exhibition will be held June 2 – June 27, 2023, at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center.

FROM THE ARTIST: “…My choice of and color application creates beauty, emotion, and energy in a variety of subject matters, including landscapes, objects, animals, and people. Testimony from my mentor Sandy Maudlin describes my art and skills as “Experimental mixed media. Expressive, colorful art, combining both abstraction and realism, always pushing forward to discover new possibilities for creating dynamic, impressionistic, beautiful art.”

Reflections runs June 2 – 24 in the Westheimer Gallery. Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 3PM – 7PM, Saturdays 10AM – 2PM, or by appointment (contact us at sharonvillecac@gmail.com).
