Dramaturgy in the New Play Process

Are you looking to energize your free time or learn new theatre skills? Our adult virtual workshops offer a way to enjoy crafts, design and performance activities while learning from professional theatre artists.

How do dramaturgs function throughout the new play process? From creative inception and drafting to workshops and staged readings to pre-production through closing night and beyond, a dramaturg helps a play achieve a successful first, third or thousandth production. A dramaturg’s work creates cohesion in the story by combining detailed research, relationships and recall. Led by a new play dramaturg/director, learn dramaturgical tools and how a dramaturg’s work informs the world of the play to attain more rounded, in-depth storytelling.
