This art exhibition, set within our botanical gardens, showcases both sculptural and functional ceramic arts depicting “botanical currents”.
Ceramic artists were challenged to show botanical currents by simulating the energy and life plants provide and utilize with our ecosystem. They were asked to find inspiration in the daily life of a plant using thematic examples such as Water Currents, Tree Energy Currents, Seed Forms, Emergence, and Blooms. And if so inclined, artists were also encouraged to depict how people or animals benefit from the energy plants circulate throughout the world.
This artistic display harmonizes art and plants together providing a message that awakens people from plant blindness, offering some insight into living plants and how we might coexist with their energy, or “currents.”
Participating Artists are Chris Alveshere, Brian Chen, Rory Foster, Naomi Peterson, Katie Swartz and George Rodriguez.
