ARTISTS + CAMERA + RESIDENT ON A NEIGHBORHOOD JOURNEY

Join artists with cameras and OTR residents without access to these tools to meet, match up, and explore the neighborhood together. This is in the spirit of Susan Sontag’s words, “The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own.” Residents will be encouraged to look at OTR as “their wonderland.” Where was their favorite place to play as a child? What object or activity would they like to photograph that has a fantastical meaning? A story about the neighborhood will be created through the time they exist together. The artist’s role is to teach about cameras (shutter speed, aperture, etc.) and see and listen to the resident’s vantage point about the past, present and future.
