MADAGASCAR: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE Sensory-Friendly Performance

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is very proud to present “sensory-friendly” performances intended for individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as children (and adults) with other developmental or cognitive disabilities who may benefit.  To create a sensory-friendly performance, the show will be performed in a welcoming, supportive environment for those with sensory challenges.  Slight adjustments to lighting and sound will be made and effects such as fog, strobes, and lights that extend into the audience will be minimalized.  A committee of experts in the field aids TCT in these performances, including staff members from Theatre Development Fund’s Autism Theatre Initiative, the organization that implements sensory-friendly performances on Broadway.

A downloadable Social Narrative (in Word format) with pictures of the theater and the production will be available on our website one week before the show, designed to personalize the experience for individuals wishing to prepare for the production.  Additional resources, such as a Character Guide, and a Guide to Attending the Show will also be available one week before the performance.
