(POSTPONED) Matinee Musicale Recital with Nicole Cabell, Soprano

Celebrated soprano Nicole Cabell, who dazzled audiences in the title role of Juliet in the 2019 Cincinnati Opera Romeo and Juliet, returns in a solo performance with Matinee Musicale, celebrating its 107th season as Cincinnati’s Original Classical Solo Recital Series. Cabell, the 2005 Winner of the BBC Singer of the World Competition in Cardiff, is described as “…a faultlessly gleaming soprano, a technique with no loopholes, and bags of confidence.…whatever this soprano chooses to sing, her voice makes wonderful music with it” (Richard Fairman, Financial Times), Cabell is one of the most sought-after lyric sopranos of today. Her solo debut album, Soprano was named “Editor’s Choice” by Gramophone and has received an incredible amount of critical acclaim and several prestigious awards: the 2007 Georg Solti Orphée d’Or from the French Académie du Disque Lyrique and an Echo Klassik Award in Germany.  Additional awards include first place in both the Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition and the Women’s Board of Chicago Vocal Competition, and she earned first place in the American Opera Society competition in Chicago. Cabell has performed at numerous venues internationally, including Paris, London, Berlin, Tokyo, San Francisco, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco, among others. She appeared in recital in New York City as part of Marilyn Horne’s Birthday Gala at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall as well as in several other cities.

Donna Loewy will perform as Cabell’s collaborative pianist. Loewy is Field Service Professor of Collaborative Piano and Accompanist-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College – Conservatory of Music. Much in demand as a collaborative pianist and master class teacher, she performs frequently throughout the United States and has toured internationally. She is the official accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera Auditions (Southern Ohio Region) and has been an assisting artist at the Congress of Strings, the International Clarinet Conference, Tubamania in Sydney, Australia, the International Double Reed Society, the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference and the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Recitals.
