There’ll Be Horns Aplenty at Music@BCM June 13

COVINGTON, KY – Nothing says summer like a band concert in the park – especially if the music is performed by the trumpets, French horns, trombones and tubas of a brass choir.

The Mount Auburn Brass Fellowship brings the sounds of summer and a fresh new program to Behringer-Crawford Museum’s amphitheater in Devou Park at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, as part of the 2019 Music@BCM concert series.

Founded in 1994, the group brings together student, amateur and professional brass musicians from the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas. Ensemble members represent many vocations, including music, education, computer systems and the law, but all share a passion for music.

The Mount Auburn Brass is led by conductor, trombonist and composer Gary L. Johnston, who has performed with many groups, including the Clermont, Hamilton-Fairfield, Nashville and Cincinnati symphony orchestras, the Sounds of Sousa Band, the Northern Kentucky Symphony, the Brighton Brass Band and the Commonwealth Brass Quintet.

Music@BCM’s concerts are held in Behringer-Crawford Museum’s outdoor amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road – Devou Park, Covington KY 41011.  Doors open at 6 p.m. with refreshments available for sale and the concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m.  Concert-goers are invited to bring folding chairs or blankets for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will move indoors.

The Music@BCM series continues June 20 with the jazzy Latin sounds of Mambo Combo and then each Thursday through August 15 with the exception of July 4. Guests are encouraged to check the museum’s website, www.bcmuseum.org, or call 859-491-4003 to confirm the schedule.

Music@BCM is sponsored by Ashley Development, KW Mechanical, Hummel Hatfield Insurance Agency, Ersatz & Moot Point Railway Company and the Alumni of WNOP Jazz, Ruth Faragher & Family, George & Margaret McLane Foundation and the William O. Purdy, Jr. Foundation of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, and supported by Colonial Cottage, The Devou Good Project, Johnny’s Car Wash, and Reality Tuesday Café.
