Paint Out – Plein Air Painters of Oxford and surrounding areas, is an informal group meeting at 10:30 am in the Second Monday of each month at the Oxford Community Arts Center.
Existing without a board, officers or regular meetings, Oxford’s Paint Out members decide where to paint after meeting up in the OCAC library for a cup of coffee or tea. During inclement weather, the group may choose to set up and paint on the OCAC porch or other available space within the building. Membership is open to whoever would like to participate.
En Plein Air or plein air painting, is a phrase borrowed from the French meaning “open (in full) air” and used to describe the act of painting outdoors, also called French: peinture sur le motif (“painting of the object(s) or what the eye actually sees”), where a painter reproduces the actual visual conditions seen at the time of the painting.
