Sonny and Cher Karaoke and Costume Contest -- CANCELLED

Behringer-Crawford Museum’s Sonny & Cher Karaoke Contest, scheduled for Friday, April 3, has been cancelled due to the coronavirus.

COVINGTON – In conjunction with its exhibit of glamorous, beaded outfits worn onstage by the pop icon Cher, Behringer-Crawford Museum is holding a Sonny & Cher Karaoke and Costume Contest.

And the grand prize is two sought-after tickets to Cher’s April 7 “Here We Go Again” concert with Nile Rodgers & CHIC at Heritage Bank Center.

The contest takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at BCM. “Cher” your talents and win prizes — “The Winner Takes It All” for best performance as judged by the audience. Tickets are $8 for BCM members and $10 for future members, available at https://Costume4320.givesmart.com/ and at the door. Enjoy snack and a cash bar. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Four of Cher’s dazzling costumes are on display as part of the museum’s “From Rituals to Runways: The Art of the Bead” exhibit. The costumes, mostly created through the tambour beading process, were designed by celebrity Hollywood designer Bob Mackie and worn by the star for the Sonny & Cher TV show and concerts during the 1970s. The exhibit, which runs through May 10, celebrates the art and integral roles that beads have played in society over the centuries, from prayer and devotion to art, fashion and décor.

A number of other special activities, including beginner and advanced workshops led by beading experts, will take place during the exhibit. For more information or to purchase tickets for any of the events, go to http://bcmuseum.org/plan-your-visit/now-bcm or call the museum at (859) 491-4003.
