Student Orchestra Auditions

Students should prepare the following:

1.  Scales:

Melody orchestra – 1 or 2 major octave scales in C, G, D, and A 

Cadence orchestra – 2 or 3 octave major scales up to three sharps and flats

Chamber orchestra – 3 octave major and minor scales up to four sharps and flats

2.  Solo piece: a prepared solo should demonstrate the student’s playing abilities to ensure placement in the appropriate ensemble.

3.  Sightreading

The orchestras rehearse weekly on Thursdays (either 5-5:45 pm or 5:45-6:30 pm, depeding on level). Performances will be in December and May, with a detailed calendar published once rehearsals commence.
