Join us for {A little} Afternoon Musik series that will shed light on female composer’s talent as writers and musicians.
For centuries women were encouraged to musically entertain and compose in private, but a public career in performing or composition was frowned upon. From works by Reena Esmail and Jennifer Jolley, to a newly rediscovered work by Lilian Elkington, this concert will shed light on their talent as writers and musicians. CCO principals flutist Rebecca Andres, trumpeter Ashley Hall, violinists Celeste Golden Boyer and Sujean Kim, and Heidi Yenney on viola d’amore will be featured on a range of works that celebrate both female writers and musicians.
