Summermusik: Women in Musik

Presented by Summermusik (Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra) at Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park, Cincinnati OH

Aug 20 2021
Summermusik: Women in Musik

Fierce female performers and composers will be at the forefront at CCO’s second Mainstage concert: Women in Musik featuring “Preciously gifted” (Gramophone) Grammy-nominated violinist Caroline Goulding.

Fierce female performers and composers will be at the forefront at Women in Musik. Marking just over 100 years since the 19th Amendment gave women a voice at the ballot box, CCO will look at the voice women have in classical repertoire. Opening the program will be a work by violinist and composer Jessie Montgomery, Starburst, which describes a changing galaxy where stars are born at an incredibly fast rate. 2019 United States Artist Fellow in Music, composer Reena Esmail’s Teen Murti conjures a fascinating and unfamiliar sound world based on Indian classical music traditions. Gabriella Smith’s Brandenburg Interstices brings Bach’s fifth concerto into the 21st century. “Preciously gifted” (Gramophone) Grammy-nominated violinist Caroline Goulding will round out Summermusik with Mozart’s “Turkish” fifth violin concerto, one of the few examples where he brings together different cultures in a work. This concert will be a musical dialogue between centuries, styles and cultures – a reflection on the past as the source code of the music so many female composers create today.

Caroline Goulding, violin

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Info regarding how this event is being affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.:

The safety of everyone at CCO events has been central to the organization’s planning process. We will continue to follow all CDC guidelines as well as local, state and federal restrictions and mandates to ensure everyone has a wonderful concert experience. These are just a few safety measures we have implemented for Summermusik this August: • All events will be held outdoors to ensure maximum ventilation and airflow. • Ticketing capacity at all festival events will be limited to allow for social distancing. • All seating pods will be appropriately distanced from other seating pods. • Guests will be required to wear face masks at all times except when actively eating or drinking. We will monitor changes in guidelines closely and continue to make decisions that prioritize everyone's safety. • While our Chamber Series events have always been shorter in duration, the length of each Mainstage performance has been shortened and all intermissions have been eliminated to reduce audience congregating. • We are eliminating as many touchpoints as possible by reducing the use of paper, moving to digital program books, and continuing to use scanners to check-in guests instead of physically touching tickets. • We have created signage to encourage adequate distancing and traffic flow as our guests move throughout our venues. • In addition to all of these measures, we are also implementing rigorous COVID protocols on-stage to keep all of our artists safe
