The Grass is Blue - Comet Bluegrass All-Stars Return to Music@BCM on June 27

The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars present their interpretations of American roots music June 27 as part of the 2019 Music@BCM concert series at Behringer-Crawford Museum.

COVINGTON, KY – For more than a decade, the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars have brought their bluegrass harmonies to the Sunday night crowd at the Northside neighborhood bar, The Comet.

On June 27, you can hear their interpretations of American roots music on a Thursday night as part of the 2019 Music@BCM concert series at Behringer-Crawford Museum.

The group became the house band at The Comet in1997 and their popularity soon spread. They have performed at the opening ceremonies of the World Choir Games as guests of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and opened for national acts such as Del McCoury, Ricky Skaggs and Sam Bush.

The six-member band includes John Cole on resophonic guitar, Chris Goins on flat top guitar, Jeff Roberts on five-string banjo, Artie Werner on upright bass, Ed Cunningham on fiddle and Missy Werner on mandolin. In addition to their talented instrumental work, each member sings as well, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Music@BCM’s concerts are held in Behringer-Crawford Museum’s outdoor amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road – Devou Park, Covington KY 41011.  Doors open at 6 p.m. with refreshments available for sale and the concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m.  Concert-goers are invited to bring folding chairs or blankets for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will move indoors.

The Music@BCM series continues on July 11 with Jake Speed and the Freddies and then each Thursday through August 15. Guests are encouraged to check the museum’s website, www.bcmuseum.org, or call 859-491-4003 to confirm the schedule.

Music@BCM is sponsored by Ashley Development, KW Mechanical, Hummel Hatfield Insurance Agency, Ersatz & Moot Point Railway Company and the Alumni of WNOP Jazz, Ruth Faragher & Family, George & Margaret McLane Foundation and the William O.
