The Turkeys Bring Country-Rock to Music@BCM

The Turkeys, a folk-rock band from Covington, KY, featuring Simon & Garfunkel-esque harmonies, take the stage at Behringer-Crawford Museum for a Music@BCM summer concert on Thursday, July 22.

COVINGTON, KY – According to the band, “After the invention of rock and roll nothing really happened until The Turkeys got together. Now everything makes sense.”

The Turkeys are a folk-rock band from Covington, KY featuring Simon & Garfunkel-esque harmonies. The group includes Chris Cusentino, bass/vocals; Brad Meinerding, guitar/vocals; Harold Kennedy, guitar/vocals; Brian Aylor, drums and Sarah Davis, keyboard.

According to the band’s bio, “The Turkeys move seamlessly through traditional bluegrass, rock and classic country genres – all featuring smoking guitar solos and pristine, three-part harmony.”

Influenced by late 1960s groups like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and The Grateful Dead, among others, The Turkeys have produced two albums of original music and one of covers, and in 2007 received the Cincinnati Entertainment Award for best country album for “Every Night’s the Same.”

The family-friendly performance takes place in Behringer-Crawford Museum’s outdoor amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road-Devou Park, Covington, KY 41011. Performances run from 7 to 9 p.m.  Doors open at 6 p.m. with beers from Bircus Brewing in Ludlow and food available for purchase. Parking is free.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children ages 3-12. Visitors presenting an EBT card receive reduced admission of $3 for up to four persons. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs or blankets for seating. In the event of rain, the music moves inside the museum.
