COVINGTON, KY – “I follow what I call ‘the golden rule’ of painting. I only paint what interests me. This is being in nature.” – Tom Bluemlein.
This quote defines the ethos of Kentucky native and Impressionist painter Tom Bluemlein, who has spent his 30-year career creating works that are not only beautiful depictions of nature, but also give the viewer the feeling of the landscape. His unique style uses bold colors and treats a canvas in a way that is similar to a quilt-maker, arranging the brush strokes, then rubbing the edges to blend or “stitch” the colors together.
An exhibit of Bluemlein’s landscape, waterscape and still-life paintings will be on display at Behringer-Crawford Museum (BCM) from June 10 through July 29, 2018. The public is invited to meet the artist and view his work at the opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10. The reception is included with museum admission.
