Veteran Reflections: A Night of Storytelling

Presented by Tristate Veterans Community Alliance at CityLink Center, Cincinnati OH

Veteran Reflections: A Night of Storytelling

A better way to honor veterans; come listen to stories from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Join us Veterans Day 2016 – veteran, civilian, young, old – for a night of storytelling. As the military/civilian divide continues to widen, this is a meaningful way to allow civilians to better understand military veterans instead of simply offering a “thank you for your service”. Every veteran has a story and that story needs to be preserved and heard by others. This community of listening not only allows veterans to be heard and known, but it allows civlians to be educated and show authentic appreciation for veterans and the military.

These events will help to bridge the military/civilian divide which has grown even deeper in the Post 9/11 conflicts. Understanding the veteran experience from a civilian perspective is paramount for veterans’ transition back to civilian society. Understanding these stories creates a greater appreciation and deeper connection to veterans.

This event will feature speakers from multiple generations and wars; from Henry who served during WWII and helped liberate a Nazi concentration camp to Carl who served during Iraq. There will be 7 veterans total telling their stories with a time for Q & A. These events will be video recorded to preserve the moment and oral history. Beer will be available for purchase at the event as well.
