Walterhoope Presents "Lungs"

Walterhoope will present Duncan Macmillan’s acclaimed play “Lungs” that the Washington Post described as “a bracingly dramatic walk through the thicket of a couple’s communication.

This intimate, two hander will run two weekends in two separate locations: Xavier University’s Edgecliff Recital Hall (1512 Herald Ave) on Friday March 29th and Saturday March 30th at 7:30pm; and The Liberty Exhibition Hall (3839 Spring Grove Rd) on Friday April 5th at 7:30pm and Sunday April 7th at 6:00 pm.

Directed by David Mavricos, starring Audrey Bertaux and William Vaughan, the 90 minute play will be staged in the round, designed by Kelsey Nihiser, and accompanied by live music composed by Kaleel Skeirik.

“A play like Lungs couldn’t be more timely,” says director David Mavricos, “As we face the growing threat of climate change, it is going to be more and more necessary for us to confront tough—and often uncomfortable—questions, questions like ‘What kind of world are we leaving to our children?’ ‘How are we going to survive in such a world?’ and ‘Is it ethical even to bring children into this world?’ Macmillan has given us a piece to meditate on, leaving us with no easy answers; indeed, its only definitive conclusion is that the future won’t be letting us off the hook.”
