Special screening of an Anthony Bourdain film
Have you ever wondered how to use the ends of onions or what grocers do with the apples that have a small hole? On January 28, 2018, learn more about how to prevent, recover, and recycle surplus food. Together, we’ll watch a movie, “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste” that tells the powerful story of wasted food featuring Anthony Bourdain along with other celebrity chefs. Afterward, we’ll engage in a panel discussion with local chefs, zero waste experts and other advocates about how businesses tackle wasted food in commercial settings (cash bar available throughout). We’ll finish with tantalizing creations made by the Cincinnati region’s soup brigade organized by La Soupe, along with other delicious food from Chefs Collaborative members. Enjoy this opportunity and light fare while also supporting the work of La Soupe and Ohio River Valley’s Chefs Collaborative chapter (#orvcc) as all profit from this event will benefit their sustainability initiatives. From institutional kitchens, restaurants, food trucks, or individuals, this event will fill you with ideas on how to better prevent wasting food. This event is sponsored by Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District whose mission is to assist residents, communities, businesses, and schools in achieving zero waste. Doors open at 3:00pm, with movie beginning promptly at 3:30pm.
