A Madcap puppet show, photo with Santa, games, crafts, storytelling and haywagon rides top off the list of free activities at The Grove Banquet and Event Center.
– It’s the final weeks before the holiday break, and you are probably looking for ways to spend quality family time together – without breaking the bank. Welcome in the holidays with WinterFest, Springfield Township’s holiday tradition brought to you by ArtsConnect™. WinterFest is a free, fun-filled family experience, held on December 5th at The Grove Banquet and Events Center, located at 9150 Winton Road.
WinterFest will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Cincinnati’s all-time favorite life-sized puppets, Madcap Puppets. The show, Aesop’s Fables, recalls three of the best-loved stories re-told by a cast of puppets, and you! Stories include: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Lion and the Mouse, and The Hare and the Tortoise. After the show, Santa Claus makes his grand appearance. Professional photographers will be on hand to take photos.
You can continue the WinterFest experience from 2:00-4:00 p.m. by making a hand-made card, photo frame and bookmark, play games, have your face painted, listen to stories by Mrs. Claus and enjoy free hay wagon rides! Concessions of popcorn, hot chocolate and cookies will be available for purchase.
“We’re asking residents to share their good fortune with those children who can’t experience the holidays at home, by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy that Finneytown schools Sparkle Cats cheerleaders will collect,” said Kim Flamm, chair of ArtsConnect. The Finneytown cheerleaders will distribute the toys to the Children’s Hospital as part of their Fill-the-Bus campaign. Some toys in the collection will also benefit families in our community who have fallen on hard times.
Admission to WinterFest is free and includes the show, crafts, games and prizes. Donations and proceeds from a split-the-pot raffle will benefit ArtsConnect™.
Free and open to the public. Donations benefit ArtsConnect.
