Our programs are designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills and develop a sense of ensemble and community. To support the needs of our partners and schools, we are offering in-school programming virtually and in-person. This includes recording our outreach plays, and creating an all-new Education Membership that gives you access to our full catalog of virtual workshops.

Class Act! Workshops

Program description

Class Act! is a free, single-session workshop (45 -60 minutes) led by a professional teaching artist, that uses drama activities to prepare students for a Playhouse student matinee or touring production that they are about to see. We also can work with students after they see a show to help them connect their experience to the curriculum.

These pre- and post-show workshops engage students in a variety of activities that focus on the theme, plot and characters of the show. Activities may include acting or improvising, writing, and group work.

Workshops are designed with the help of a teacher council to ensure we are supporting the common core and classroom learning objectives.

For information on scheduling Class Act! workshops in your school, contact Lauren Carr, Education Associate at 513-977-2031 or email lauren.carr@cincyplay.com.

Class Act! workshops are made possible by generous support from the Scripps Howard Foundation.

They are very helpful to prepare students for what they will be seeing! The Playhouse people who come are engaging and friendly. – Elementary School Teacher

The workshops provided my students the opportunity to demonstrate skills in a different context. – High School Teacher
