Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Our programs are designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills and develop a sense of ensemble and community. To support the needs of our partners and schools, we are offering in-school programming virtually and in-person. This includes recording our outreach plays, and creating an all-new Education Membership that gives you access to our full catalog of virtual workshops.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL - Sensory Friendly Performance

Program description

U.S. Bank presents A CHRISTMAS CAROL – Sensory Friendly Student Matinee Performance
DEC. 6, 2016

Faithful storytelling and spellbinding stage magic bring to life Ebenezer Scrooge’s time-traveling journey with the spirits one magical Christmas Eve. The heartwarming message and special effects make the show one of the Playhouse’s most popular productions each season.

________________________________________________________________

Live, professional theatre for your students! Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is welcoming schools and organizations to participate in a special sensory friendly performance of A Christmas Carol, presented by U.S. Bank.

This performance is for individuals on the autism spectrum or with other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities as a way to involve them in the amazing experience of live theatre. This is the same professional production staged for evening and weekend audiences; however, during this time, there will be accommodations made for all to enjoy the show. The sensory friendly performance begins at 10a.m. and tickets are $12 each. For every 15 paid student tickets, one complimentary ticket is provided. There is a $12.50 processing fee added to each order. The sensory friendly performance is supported by Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati/Ben Raanan.

Accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  • Audience Viewing: During this performance, we understand that patrons may have different reactions or may be vocal. We welcome all to enjoy the experience in their own way.
  • Reentry: Recognizing that sitting for extended periods of time is not easy for all, we will relax our reentry policy during this performance. If a break from the show is needed, individuals can exit to a break area where we will video stream the production or across the plaza to our quiet lobby. Members of the education staff will take individuals back to their seats to continue viewing the show once they wish to return to the theatre.
  • Pre-Show Materials: Before the production, the Playhouse will provide information about the show, our theatre space and audience expectations when attending a live performance, as well as an Educator’s Guide for A Christmas Carol.
  • Staff Support: Our education team will be available to assist any teachers or aides as needed.
