The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is a dynamic ensemble of some of the world’s finest musicians. The CSO is Cincinnati’s own and committed to enhancing and expanding music education for the children of Greater Cincinnati. CSO education programs support the work of educators by helping ensure that students develop critical 21st century skills and leveraging arts integration for cross-curricular learning in children of all backgrounds. Above all, our goal is to make music fun and create lifelong listeners and learners out of young audiences.

The Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestras (CSYO) is comprised of three ensembles: the CSYO Philharmonic, the CSYO Concert Orchestra, and the CSYO Nouveau Chamber Players. The CSYO aims to reinforce excellence in students and challenge them to expand their own boundaries through the highest level of music performance and collaboration. Ensembles rehearse weekly, perform up to five concerts per year, and receive access to the world class instructional resources of the CSO, including coaching from CSO musicians and leadership from CSO Assistant Conductor Gene Chang.
Founded in 1964 by former CSO Music Director Max Rudolf and area music educators, the CSYO is dedicated to the cultivation of talent and provides outstanding young instrumentalists the opportunity to perform repertoire not always available through their school music programs.
