The Carnegie

The Carnegie

  • Afterschool Programming
The Carnegie’s afterschool arts programs, ArtStop Artist Series and ArtStop on the Go, offer multi-week, creative programming for children that take place at The Carnegie or can be delivered “on the go” to collaborating schools and organizations. Taught by local teaching artists, ArtStop provides participants with opportunities to make creative choices in a range of artistic mediums, from acting to dance to visual arts. Students are presented with challenging projects that end with a culminating event, offering a sense of pride and satisfaction with their work.
  • In School Programming
The Carnegie provides arts integrated workshops and residences directly to the classroom for grades K though 8. Each program is designed to allow students an opportunity to create, perform/produce and respond. They focus on combining the elements of dance, drama, music, creative writing and visual arts with non-arts related content in order to strengthen creativity, problem solving, perseverance, communication and pride. In-school programming is designed to engage all students in higher-level-thinking and a true connection to why the arts matter.
The Carnegie also provides professional development for classroom teachers through arts integration trainings, demonstration teaching, observations, lesson planning, assessment writing and more.
  • Summer Programming
The Carnegie’s summer program, Camp Carnegie, provides children with a comprehensive theatre experience. As a team, participants are given opportunities to write their stories and scripts, develop characters, rehearse, create costumes and backdrops and perform live in front of an audience. This fast-paced, student-driven program is a great deal of fun and encourages students to step out of their comfort zone and into the spotlight.
