The combination of entertainment and education of NKY’s history and culture is a hallmark of BCM, where children and adults learn as they play through 16 permanent and six rotating exhibits plus over 196 presentations and programs. Many of our programs are designed to reflect our area’s cultural and artistic heritage while promoting today’s local artists and their various media, whether music, writing, theater or visual art.
Arts integrated educational programming is offered throughout the year to school and civic groups and the general public through school field trips, outreach services, lectures on history and the arts, special camps on archaeology, music or art, and pre-school story time and craft activities.
We are committed to educating our residents, families, visitors, and particularly our young people as to the treasures–geological, historical and cultural–that we have right here in our own community where we live.
BCM Mission:
“The regional history of Northern Kentucky as part of the Ohio Valley must be preserved for the benefit of present and future generations. Therefore, the Behringer-Crawford Museum is a center for the collection, presentation, study and enjoyment of our natural, cultural, and visual and performing arts heritage,”
Northern Kentucky’s arts, culture and history live at Behringer-Crawford Museum for the benefit of all members in, and all visitors to, our community.

Although slavery existed and thrived in America, not all Americans support it. In fact, many brave individuals broke the law and helped to guide runaway slaves to freedom in Canada. In this program, students hear the stories of daring Underground Railroad conductors, including Sojourner Truth, John Parker, Harriet Tubman, Peg-Leg Joe, John and Jean Rankin, and many others who risked their lives to insure freedom for all people. Through their investigation of these people, students develop the understanding that an individuals initiative can impact the course of history. Your students’ participation in this program will promote growth in their historical perspectives and inspire them to take initiative int heir own communities.
