Behringer-Crawford Museum

Behringer-Crawford Museum

The combination of entertainment and education of NKY’s history and culture is a hallmark of BCM, where children and adults learn as they play through 16 permanent and six rotating exhibits plus over 196 presentations and programs. Many of our programs are designed to reflect our area’s cultural and artistic heritage while promoting today’s local artists and their various media, whether music, writing, theater or visual art.

Arts integrated educational programming is offered throughout the year to school and civic groups and the general public through school field trips, outreach services, lectures on history and the arts, special camps on archaeology, music or art, and pre-school story time and craft activities.

We are committed to educating our residents, families, visitors, and particularly our young people as to the treasures–geological, historical and cultural–that we have right here in our own community where we live.

BCM Mission:

“The regional history of Northern Kentucky as part of the Ohio Valley must be preserved for the benefit of present and future generations. Therefore, the Behringer-Crawford Museum is a center for the collection, presentation, study and enjoyment of our natural, cultural, and visual and performing arts heritage,”

Northern Kentucky’s arts, culture and history live at Behringer-Crawford Museum for the benefit of all members in, and all visitors to, our community.

Harlan Hubbard: Art of Life, Life of Art

Program description

Introduce your class to the life and art of Harlan Hubbard. A man dedicated to living in harmony with nature, Harlan Hubbard created art, played music and wrote literature while living on the fringe of society along the Ohio River with his wife Anna. Through an examination of his paintings, students will be challenged to determine how art is influenced by the time, place and culture in which the work was created. Give your students the chance to actively engage with the largest publicly owned collection of artistic works created by native Kentuckian Harlan Hubbard.
