Breakthrough Cincinnati at the University of Cincinnati

Breakthrough Cincinnati (BTC) is a local non-profit with affiliation to a National Collaborative of over 25 sites across the United States. We have been in Cincinnati for 25 years and are in our second year at the University of Cincinnati. Our four-year, tuition-free, out-of-school time (OST) academic program has a dual mission: 1) provide rigorous, college-preparatory educational enrichment opportunities to highly motivated middle and high school students from underserved/underrepresented communities, and 2) inspire and train undergraduate college students to become the next generation of teachers and educational leaders with an innovative students-teaching-students model.
This year we are joining the Summer of STEM initiative and holding weekly Project-Based Learning days with our enrolled 64 middle school student scholars from over 16 different Cincinnati Public Schools. Our students apply to our six-week program in the fifth grade and commit to four years of summer enrichment.
