Gerena uses graffiti materials and techniques to paint simplified, stylized figures, in strong lines and color planes on canvas. He had left behind the streets and graffiti style years ago for the art studio, and for experimentation in more traditional works on canvas. However, his current body of work developed as he returned to some of his older techniques, synthesizing his original artistic ideas with a more sophisticated outlook gained after years of development as an artist.
