Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati 125th Annual Juried Exhibition

Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati 125th Annual Juried Exhibition

Presented by Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati Foundation at The Barn (Woman's Art Club Cultural Center)

The Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati is the oldest existing Art Club for Women in the United States, continually operating since its founding in 1892.

The first Annual Exhibit opened in October of 1893, showing 113 artworks by 21 artists. At that time, Cincinnati had under half a million residents, shipped $1M worth of soap, possessed 43 breweries, and steamboats ruled the river. A review of the 1899 Exhibition at Closson's Galleries declared "Several of the canvases are of high grade; nearly all are very good"!

In 2006, the Woman's Art Club purchased the Barn and created the Foundation (a 501c3) to fundraise and renovate this historic National Register listed building (formerly known as Resthaven Barn) into a Cultural Arts Center for all Greater Cincinnatians to partake in art appreciation, creation, and education.

The Juried Exhibition is a showcase of the most talented woman artists in the Tri-State area, featuring nearly 70 works of art this year. All are invited to take part in this long Cincinnati tradition by attending the Opening Reception on Sunday, April 8 (awards presentation at 4pm). Show continues through April 29, when the Closing Reception will feature Smooth Jazz by Bruce Menefield. Exhibit is open Tuesdays - Fridays from 10am - 2pm; weekends 1 - 4pm.
