Opera Rap: Wagner and the Myth of The Flying Dutchman with Naomi Lewin

Opera Rap: Wagner and the Myth of The Flying Dutchman with Naomi Lewin

Presented by Cincinnati Opera at Mercantile Library

Cincinnati Opera and the Wagner Society collaborate to present an evening exploring Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. Composed in 1843, when Wagner was 30 years old, the opera offers glimpses at what would become his signature operatic style, featuring leitmotifs throughout the work. Join Naomi Lewin, NPR contributor and former WGUC host, for an in-depth look at the life, legend, and controversial legacy of the composer who revolutionized the operatic art form.
