John Litzler and Cody Szarko
John Litzler (formerly of River North Dance Chicago) and Cody Szarko (formerly of Visceral Dance Chicago) premiere this new work commissioned by MamLuft&Co. Dance. Litzler has also performed with Sia at Coachella, and Szarko can be seen in the Celtic Thunder: Stormmovie. The dancers have performed in works by such artists at Trey McIntyre, Ohad Naharin, and Sidra Bell, and they bring their visceral contemporary style to ML&Co. “Mind Cloud” addresses surrendering to the ability of free thinking.
Leslie Dworkin
“Rise,” by guest artist Leslie Dworkin, is a kind of pilgrimage: a journey that moves through a landscape of density, toward a state of clarity and balance, reflecting the relationships that form, support, and splinter along the way. The work employs Dworkin’s meticulous attention to movement detail and unique musical sensibility, and reflects the tension between two poles: our human reality, and a desired state of grace.
Susan Honer
“Out of the Rolling Ocean” explores a depth of feelings and connections forged in an instant — as we walk past, brush, and bump into strangers every day. Susan Honer, collaborating closely with ML&Co. company members, unpacks these brief moments, developing relationships that might exist if given time. Honer collaborates with composer/artist Sean Simon for an original music score.
Elena Rodriguez Moore and Susan Honer
Set to a post-modern orchestral score, “No. 3” features a visual symphony of movement. Dancers sweep, soar, and sculpt in this captivating work performed to string instruments.
