Nathaniel Flanagan brings his love of classical techniques and capturing light on canvas to the Westheimer Gallery with The Beauty of Light and Shadow, March 1 - 3o.  Taking the enviable leap of faith to make fine art his full-time profession, Nate follows in the footsteps of the Masters to create stunning works in oil.

"To me, art is more than a good painting, or a pretty picture, it’s about the beauty that can be captured, the idea growing on a canvas, thoughts on display for all to see. That’s what I aim for in my paintings; I want to show the beauty of the world, to convey the feeling of light and shadow. I want the viewer to stop and see the beauty of something as simple as a vase or a tree, and see the beauty everyday life offers us.

Studying art and art history is something I enjoy very much, and it is a big inspiration for my artwork. Painting on location landscapes, or setting up a still life and capturing the moment, the light, and shadows, is what drives me as an artist. The Beauty of Light and Shadow runs Thursday - Saturdays through March 30.  Join us for the opening reception during our monthly First Friday event, Friday March 1 from 6-8pm.  The Westheimer Gallery is open to the public and this event is Free.
