Fifty Shades of Gray with Jessica Calderwood

Fifty Shades of Gray with Jessica Calderwood

Presented by Carpenter Art Enamel Foundation at Carpenter Art Enamel Foundation

It’s not just jewelry, it’s wearable art! Join us as Jessica Calderwood demonstrates the use of imagery with vitreous enamel in developing her own artistic language. Learn various techniques such as sifting, shading, how to block out with oils, underglazes, overglazes and using stencils. Jessica Calderwood is interested in using traditional craft media, both for their creative properties, as well as their historical references to ‘marginal craft forms.’  She has been working both in large-scale sculptures and drawings and small-scale wearable objects as a way to continually develop her ideas. She says that working on smaller objects has been a way to flesh out ideas quickly.  Her jewelry consists mainly of brooches, because she likes wearing them and they are like a miniature canvas or sculpture.
