The first half of the program includes British works spanning the last 100 years, including works by Edward Elgar, Herbert Howells, Grace Williams and Sir James MacMillan’s Kiss on Wood, which was written for Madeleine Mitchell. The second half of the program features the premiere of faculty artist Douglas Knehans’ Mist Waves, which was written specially for Mitchell. The recital closes with Edvard Grieg’s popular and passionate Violin Sonata No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 45.
