Matinee Musicale, now in its 107th season, presents pianist Albert Cano Smit on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Anderson Center.  This young musician is definitely on his way to a noteworthy career.  At age 16 he won the special prize for the Best Spanish Pianist in the Ricardo Vines International Competition.  In 2017 he was awarded first prize at the Naumberg Piano Competition.  He was honored with full scholarships to the Juilliard School and the Colburn School in Los Angeles.  Smit had recital tours through Spain, Germany and the United States, and he has performed in the Bozar's Henry Le Boeuf Hall in Brussels, the Canal in Madrid, the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, England and Royce Hall in Los Angeles.
