Listen To This! One City, One Symphony Poetry Reading

Presented by Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at Corryville Branch - Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County

We're partnering with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra this year on One City, One Symphony – the orchestra’s community-wide project that brings us together through music.

By connecting music the CSO performs at Music Hall to themes relevant to each of us in our everyday lives, One City, One Symphony inspires us, provokes our thinking, and celebrates our shared humanity. The One City, One Symphony 2015 program centers on the theme of FREEDOM as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 13th Amendment and the legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou through music and poetry!

IN THIS SPECIAL EVENT you'll learn about and hear Dr. Maya Angelou's poetry and how it inspired composers to create new pieces of music, and we'll hear about Dr. Maya Angelou's connection to the CSO from CSO violist Marna Street. The event will also feature a poetry reading of the winning poems of the One City, One Symphony Freedom Poetry Contest (Grades 9-12 category), led by one of the contest adjudicators Jori An Cotton of Elementz.

This program is free and open to the public at the Corryville Branch Library (2802 Vine St.).
