Lempitskiy and Kuhr: Creating Forward, is an exhibition of art that is inspired by life and society. These two artists have different approaches to their subject. Kuhr falls to quickly in love with the scene and must fight the spell too fashion it into art, while Lempitskiy wields a knife to cut the scene to its simplest form without sacrificing the intrigue. Both artists are representational in style but still give the viewer an eye full to imagine.

Ivanka Lempitskiy was born in Ukraine, taught physics, immigrated to the US, speaks 3 languages, and has been influenced by art and the handmade beauty of her native country. She stays connected to those vivid memories today as she focuses her art on landscape scenery in oil paint and pastel. She says, “it’s remarkable how so many things in this country are the same in Ukraine…just newer.”

Christine Kuhr is a native Cincinnatian, Art Academy graduate, lifelong art student, retired marketing professional, and she strives to create a legacy of relevant art.  Her primary mediums are oil paint, encaustic wax, and pastel. She has been creating art for more than 50 years and says, “when I was working I made myself take weekly classes and workshops to keep up my fine art skills, now I’ve entered a new stage where I’m focused, in the zone, and loving it.”
