Unwanted: A Murder Mystery of the Gilded Age

Unwanted: A Murder Mystery of the Gilded Age

Presented by Behringer-Crawford Museum at Online/Virtual Space

On the foggy, cold morning of February 1, 1896, a boy came upon what he thought was a pile of clothes. It was soon discovered to be the headless body of a young woman, brutally butchered and discarded. So begins the sad story of the murder of Pearl Bryan.

The shocking tale of the homicide of a 22-year-old pregnant woman who was found decapitated in Fort Thomas, KY in 1896 will be the focus of next week's NKY History Hour. Andrew Young, author of Unwanted: A Murder Mystery of the Gilded Age, will discuss his book and the sensational case, which resulted in the execution of two dental students for her vicious murder.

The free presentation and discussion take place online from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday, September 2. To register and participate, go to https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcsdeGtpjMiEtFOHWP1OI4tooShmMxzS0oY. Information on how to connect to the session will be sent after registration. Young is a historian and writer focusing on American criminal and social history, as well as ancient history. He is author of the highly praised The Lost Book of Alexander the Great, also available from Westholme Publishing. He lives in the Greater Cincinnati area with his wife and two children.

Hosted by Shane Noem and Tara Johnson-Noem, Vice President of the BCM Board of Trustees. NKY History Hour is a weekly offering of Behringer-Crawford Museum focused on Northern Kentucky history, featuring local authors, historians and archaeologists.
