Q-KIDZ Dance Team, a non-profit organization located in the West End of Cincinnati, performs “Sparkles & Spirit,” a vibrant celebration of strength, courage, and joy on January 23, 2021 at 5 pm.

The Q-KIDZ Dance Team is dedicated to creating a safe space for young girls to thrive, no matter their economic situation.  Q-KIDZ was founded forty years ago with a single purpose:  to empower youth experiencing poverty and drug related crime in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood.  What started as one woman’s effort to engage youth in positive after-school activities has grown into a nationally recognized, award-winning dance program that impacts more than 100 girls a year between the ages of four and eighteen.  Q-KIDZ leverages dance as a platform to educate, nurture, and build self-esteem.

The Q-Kidz Dance Team has received national acclaim for choreography, techniques, costumes, and overall performance.   Ms. Jones-Woods’ commitment to national competition is driven by her desire to expose the girls to life far beyond their impoverished West End neighborhood.   “I know the struggles these girls have been dealt because I’m a product of the same environment.  I want to help broaden their perspective by giving them an opportunity to visit other cities, experience different cultures, and build a strong network of friends outside of Cincinnati,” said Ms. Jones-Woods.

Saturday’s performance was pre-recorded in partnership with Cincinnati’s Memorial Hall due to COVID-19 restrictions.  “Sparkles & Spirit” serves as one of the non-profits key fundraising events.    To view the performance, participants can log onto Qkidz.givesmart.com on Saturday, January 23 at 5 pm.  Ticket cost is $25 and $20 for parents and family of Q-KIDZ.
