Cincinnati Opera and CCM Opera's joint Opera Fusion: New Works program presents a livestreamed presentation of excerpts from The Hours, with music by Kevin Puts (Silent Night) and a libretto by Greg Pierce (Fellow Travelers).
Adapted from Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the Paramount Pictures film, the opera tells the story of three women whose lives have a literary connection. Their stories are elegantly interwoven, as parallels and echoes in their lives shed light on the eternal search for meaning, fulfillment, and connection, particularly for women who are constrained by societal roles and their own complicated desires and expectations.
The Hours has been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera and The Philadelphia Orchestra, and will receive its world premiere during the Met’s 2022-23 season.
The livestreamed presentation of excerpts is free. Visit this page to watch→ https://bit.ly/ofnw-the-hours
