Celebrate Black History Month with Art, Dialogue, and Community at Women Writing for (a) Change.
Join us virtually (via Zoom) for this FREE event.
Friday evening, February 4th, 6:30-9:30pm ET
Listen to and engage with honored guest author Dani McClain, whose writing focuses on race, reproductive justice, policy, and politics. In 2019, she published We Live for the We: The Political Power of Black Motherhood. A reporter and author whose work has been featured in Time, Slate, and Ebony.com, Dani McClain was the 2021 Library Foundation Writer-in-Residence at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
View newly acquired artwork from internationally known Nigerian artist Ben Ibebe. A PowerPoint presentation of the artwork will be part of the Zoom event. A frequent visitor to Dayton, Ben Ibebe focuses on images of everyday scenes of West African life. His unique impasto technique gives each piece an almost three-dimensional surface, adding character to bright colors and geometric composition.
Support intergenerational BIPOC writers of the Women Writing for (a) Change community as they share readings centered on Black Joy.
This program and artwork are made possible by a grant from the Harris Family Fund.
