Martin Luther King Day Celebration

In collaboration with the Miami University Office of Diversity Affairs, the Oxford NAACP, the Oxford Citizens for Peace & Justice, the Smith Library of Regional History, the Oxford Lane Library, and the Talawanda School District, the Oxford Community Arts Center announces the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Program on Monday, January 18, 2016, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  The program will be held at the Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC), 10 S. College Ave., Oxford, OH 45056.  This program kicks off the Black History Celebration programming at Miami University with the theme of “Whose Lives Matter?”  This question has been placed before us in our country, cities, and our communities, and it continues to be a major focus.

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Yvette Harris, will speak on “Where are our children? The unspoken dreams of African American Children.” Dr. Harris is a Professor of Psychology, Miami University, and the Area Coordinator Brain Cognitive and Developmental Program. The program includes a musical performance and art exhibition.
