Behind the Vision. From My Eyes to Yours by Alfonso B. Huckleberry Sr.
Opening Reception: July 15th
July 15th- August 13th, 2016
Behind the Vision. From my eyes to yours is an exhibition of the work of local artist Alfonso B. Huckleberry Sr. Primarily a figurative artist. Alfonso will be sharing not only his concept behind his works, but also poetry and quotes that exemplify the emotion behind the piece. Alfonso wanted to show the beauty of the written and spoken word as it applies to visual arts. He has matched poetry and quotations with each of his creations to bring out the feeling of the piece. Alfonso loves the beauty of the human figure and form, although he does create some select nature subjects and cityscapes. He uses many different mediums to create his work; Acrylic, Oil, Watercolor, Oil Pastels, Pencil, Charcoal, Textile, Wood Carving, & Wood Burning. He believes there is art in everything that we do. Behind the Vision. From my eyes to your ears, is a way to bring his vision together in one cohesive installment showing his versatility and shedding some light on his thoughts behind the works.
Artist Bio:
Born in Cincinnati, his interest in art started when he was just four-years old. Drawing images from comics strips from the newspaper. His Father, gave him the most inspiration to become an artist. Alfonso is always looking for new ways to create art, and experimenting with different materials. He is looking to learn metal work this summer.
Alfonso mostly likes to focus on the human face and figure. He creates art in acrylic, oil, watercolor, charcoal, wood carving, wood burning, and quite honestly anything he can create art out of. He likes to pay particular attention to expressions as well as the basic shapes that make up the form. He says the eyes are often his calling card. Paying close attention, as the eyes are the window to the soul.
Recently he has expanded his artistic talent to include body painting and makeup. He has already been published twice within months of stepping into this new realm. Alfonso also serves as a member of INKAA, Independent Northern Kentucky Artist and Artisans, and will soon start teaching and having talks to help develop the next generation of artists.

Artist Statement
As you will see I work in many different mediums; from wood carving to Acrylic painting.
My art is a working and ever evolving artistic experiment. My primary focus is the human figure. I like to pay close attention to lighting and how it affects my subject. Realizing that the highlighted areas are as important as the negative spaces, you will see a focus on tonality and shading. The eyes remain ever so important to me. I feel they are the key to making a person who they are; for you can enter a person’s emotional state for a set moment in time, and read their soul. The eyes are my calling card.
When people look at my art I want them to feel. I want an emotion to overtake their being. You will notice a recurring theme within my work. I like to explore the possibilities of merging two things that seemingly have no relationship to one another. Be that an animal and a human, or scenery of a foreground and background that are unrelated, or parts of a painting that were not originally together as one.
“I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to display my art at Pyramid Hill Museum alongside historical pieces of art, in such a beautiful park setting.” – Alfonso B. Huckleberry
