Learn about how flax is made into linen and get hands on experience with flax processing equipment
All welcome, free event!
** Weather note: In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled as flax processing requires dry conditions.
Come and lend a hand in processing local flax grown as part of the Rust Belt Fibershed's Linen Project. We will be processing our flax harvest, and others are welcome to bring their own retted flax to take through the necessary steps for processing into spinnable fiber. This is not necessarily a class (although we'll do a short introduction on how flax becomes linen and how to use each tool) rather an opportunity to come together and share the processing tools the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati and its members are making available to the community – including a flax brake, scutching equipment, and hackles.
